The point of the Dunking Calculator tool helps basketball players figure out how far they can dunk based on their body type. Follow this guide to make the greatest use of the tool.

Get to the Height Data

Get access to the height data to save the system's height. You need to give both feet and inches, and then add them together. For example, if the height is 6 2, you would enter "6 feet" in the feet area and "2 inches" in the inches field. The highest height is 120 inches, which is 10 feet.

You need to fully extend your arms and put them around the person to find their standing reach. The head is in the air while the feet are on the ground. Standing reach is an important part of measurement. Most people will be able to reach 1.3 of their height. The height will be 1.3.

Figure out how high you can jump

The highest point you can reach while jumping straight up from a standing position is called the vertical leap. You can type in a number or change the slider value. The slider shows you the different vertical jumps you can do and the dunks that go with them.

Get Your Results

After you enter all the information, click the "Calculate Dunk Ability" button. The tool will then show you a calculated dunk potential and display:

How to Understand Your Results

If your result displays positive inches above the rim, you did well! You are physically able to dunk.

Don't be discouraged if your result is negative. This tells you how much you need to work on your vertical leap to be able to dunk.

The comparison bar shows how your vertical leap compares to those of other basketball players.

This calculator gives you a pretty good idea of how good you are at dunking, but your technique, hand size, and timing also matter. This tool is just a way to help you stay motivated as you train!
